Sponsored by the Mountain and District Lion's Club, 1st Mountain carries on a 20 year tradition of Scouting in the area of what was once Mountain Township. Situated 40 Km south of Ottawa in the county of Dundas, and half way between Kemptville and Winchester, South Mountain is a small rural community surrounded by farms and woods. This has traditionally allowed us to offer a challenging and varied program for youth, which has included nature, field trips to our many national historic sights and the operation of the local snowmobile club canteen during winter. 1st Mountain welcomes male and female youth into our group at any time during the Scouting year. |

The 1st Winchester registered as a Traditional Explorers Association
Council of Ontario Group in 2003
Our 30-plus youth and leader contingent is carrying on a scouting
tradition that has been part of village life for 60 years. Winchester
is 45 kilometres south of Ottawa.
We run an active Traditional Scouting program centred on the
outdoor, camping, hikes and other activities for boys and girls.
The Groups Community Service involves cleaning up after
the Christmas Parade of Lights, participating in RemembranceDay
Parade, Canadian Legion Poppy Sale and supporting the DairyFest in August. |
